Dhaka dwellers to get rented bike ride

Dhaka city dwellers will now be able to have hassle-free and cheap bike ride to reach their destination as Datavoxel Ltd launched their e-commerce based business, SAM Platform, on Saturday, reports news agency UNB. Both the commuters and bikers will be benefited using smartphone app -- ‘SAM’ (share a motorcycle), as the riders can reach their destinations at cheap cost saving time, while bikers can earn extra-money. The SAM app will link commuters with owners of private motorcycles having the same destination through the SAM platform using the SAM applications, installed in their smart phones. The application has been launched to address the crisis of public transports and CNG-run auto-rickshaw. Its strategic partners are Omera, Rahim Afrooz, Bkash, GETCO and Always Online network. There are e-hailing platforms in taxi service in some countries, but no such platform in motorbike service has formed yet anywhere across the world. Addressing a press conference in the city’s Spectra Convention, managing director of the company Imtiaz Kasem said SAM is the first e-hailing platform from Bangladesh. SAM will also act as a social benefactor as it will offer a new transport option for the middle and lower-middle income people, he said. It will also create an option for people with jobs to earn some extra money without spending extra time and energy, Imtiaz Kasem noted adding that there are some four lakh private motorbikes in the city. To use the platform, a commuter needs to download the SAM app and request a nearby biker going to the same place for a ride to reach their destination. Riders can make the payment for the rides automatically through the SAM app. No cash transaction is required and thus the whole process is cashless.
